It’s the 25th Anniversary of Atlanta hip hop label So So Def and this weekend, State Farm Arena is hosting the reunion concert that brings back all of your favorite So So Def acts like Xscape, Bone Crusher, Jagged Edge and Da Brat. Xscape and Ladybird Grove and Mess Hall
Xscape was a powerhouse all ladies group and we can’t think of a better spot to match them to than this powerhouse brunch spot in Old Fourth Ward. Bone Crusher, born in the A as Wayne Hardnett, is a big guy. So a guy like him would look at a dish like Arnette’s Chop Shop’s bone marrow and know that he’s Never Scared. Plus, we’re betting he’d like the steaks and sides, too.
Jagged Edge and Southbound
This smooth singing R&B group has hits that still play at weddings, parties and celebrations – all events that you can throw at Southbound in Chamblee. The large restaurant and event space has amazing food options, including their enormous short rib and the Butterscotch Blondie Sundae – so whether you’re just looking for Where the Party At, or you’re saying Let’s Get Married, Southbound is a great option.
Da Brat and Lucky’s Burgers and Brews
When Jermaine Dupri signed Da Brat to So So Def records, she was still a teenager with a funky edge. That’s why JD envisioned her as “the female Snoop Dogg”. So we’re linking her with Lucky’s Burgers and Brews, the most dog friendly bars in Atlanta, and the grim reaper – an enormous burger that might bring her back to her Celebrity Fit Club days.
