Mamma Mia…Here We Eat Again!

Post by Cassidy Aronin, Atlanta Eats intern
Mamma Mia 2 is coming out in theatres this weekend! As a way to get even more hyped for those sweet Abba musical numbers, we checked out Atlanta’s best Greek restaurants to really get in the groove for Mamma Mia 2.

1. Kyma

You could ‘Take A Chance On Me’, but why would you when you could take a chance on Kyma?! When you step foot into Kyma, you might mistake it for Greece and think you’re at the setting where Mamma Mia 2 takes place. Don’t be fooled though, it’s just Kyma! This restaurant’s atmosphere truly takes you to Greece to try the food. It’s blue and white all over, but if you wear a red outfit there, you might think you’re eating American food! JK…it’s definitely Greek food. If you’re feeling fishy when you go, try one of their wild catches as they call it: a flavorful Sea Bass or even Sole. But if you’re feeling tough, you better taste their Lemon Chicken. Oooor, if you’re a vegetarian out there, they definitely have a Greek salad too. Nothing’s ‘Slipping Through My Fingers’, and don’t let the night slip through yours! Have a girls night at Kyma in their party room to show off your belly dancing moves and to get ready for Mamma Mia 2’s big debut!

2. Taverna Plaka

Are you a real ‘Dancing Queen’?! Taverna Plaka is where you’ll put your belly dancing moves to the test, and as they say, “Eat, Drink, Dance, Party”! This restaurant takes you to Greece to dance through the country. When you’re out with your besties, have a sip of something from their wine list, then throw your napkin up in the air and show off your best dance moves! When you’re there, you’ll be spending your ‘Money, Money, Money’! We could take a poll and see what you think Taverna translates to in Greek, but why would we do that when I can just tell you! Yup, that’s right guys. Taverna has not one, but TWO meanings, and I’m sure you guessed them…restaurant AND bar! HA, I told you that you’d spend your ‘Money, Money, Money’ here.

3. Cafe Agora

‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!’ More Greek food! Alright guys, you want another Greek restaurant to cross off your list before Mamma Mia 2 comes out in theatres? Whether you’re Buckhead bound or right in Midtown, Cafe Agora is the spot where you’re going straight to Greece to taste some more of Mamma Mia 2! You can start your taste of Greece with a Babaganoush appetizer to share with the table, which is charboiled eggplant, perfectly seasoned…but you Greek experts probably already knew that since you’re two restaurants deep in Greece! Continue your meal with their Chicken Gyro Platter to dive even deeper into the Greek culture, and finish the night with their Baklava dessert, which is filo dough filled with pistachios and cooked with a special sauce. It’s known to be a Cafe Agora classic…you can be the judge of that though!

‘Honey, Honey’, when Mamma Mia 2 comes out, you’re going to be jumping up and down! So ‘When All Is Said…or eaten…And Done’, throw some popcorn in the air at your favorite Atlanta movie theatre and say cheers to Mamma Mia 2!
