This Recipe Will Make You Resolve To Eat More Dessert In 2015

Atlanta Eats | Mom Thyme

2015 is officially upon us and if one of your New Year’s resolutions is to cook more delicious dishes for your family, well, I’ve got an Easy Hot Fudge Sauce recipe that you’re going to love! I found this recipe a few weeks ago when my husband, Kile, asked for a bowl of ice cream topped with Hershey’s syrup. I didn’t have Hershey’s syrup on hand but did have left over chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk from making fudge over the holidays. I melted them together along with a few other ingredients and voilà, Easy Hot Fudge Sauce!

This is such a fabulous recipe, I promise that you’re going to wonder where it’s been all your life (I’m 100% serious!).   You can whip up a batch of this Easy Hot Fudge Sauce in under 5 minutes and it instantly transforms the ordinary into extraordinary…ice cream, brownies, angel food cake, strawberries, pineapple, the list goes on and on. And, any leftovers keep really well in the refrigerator, just pour the sauce into a small jar and microwave small batches of it whenever needed.

Not only will your kids love this Easy Hot Fudge Sauce recipe, so will dinner party guests when you serve it as part of a super fun DIY Hot Fudge Sundae bar (complete with all the toppings!). If you’re like me and prefer more of a sweet/savory combination, simply top your Hot Fudge Sundae with chopped salted nuts (peanuts, pistachios, pecans, etc.), the combination of sweet vs. salty vs. crunchy will add a whole new dimension of flavor.  Taking only minutes to make and consisting of only four ingredients, this Easy Hot Fudge Sauce is a delicious and decadent treat for all ages! Enjoy!

Easy Hot Fudge Sauce

Serves 10

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a medium saucepan on medium heat, melt the stick of butter. Whisk in chocolate chips. Then add sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract and whisk until glossy and smooth (the butter will take a moment to incorporate into the sauce). Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to one week.

To reheat, microwave the fudge sauce on medium for 10 seconds. Stir. Microwave for an additional 10 seconds or until the desired consistency (stirring often).

Note: I prefer to use Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Premium Baking Chips.
