IMG_9511

We at Atlanta Eats see ourselves as trend forecasters and have been successfully able to predict the next big thing in the booming food and beverage scene. Our big trend for 2016? German Biergartens. The festive décor, the smorgasbord of sausages, and the extensive beer selection all aid in making this more than just a bar; it’s an experience. Atlanta, being the cultural Mecca of the south, is lucky enough to have one right in the heart of downtown that is quickly becoming a can’t miss destination. Check Atlanta’s own Der Biergarten and our top 4 reasons why these places will be blowing up in the year to come!

The Food

Everything at Der Biergarten is over the top, including the portions! Treat yourself to heaping helpings of some German staples. Pick your jaw up off the floor when platters of wiener schnitzel, jäger schnitzel, sauerkraut, bratwurst, homemade herbed spaetzel and Bavarian cheeses hit the table. No matter how big the spread may be, never skip a slice of their famous German chocolate cake. A Biergarten should be as much about the food as it is about the brews, and Atlanta’s Der Biergarten knows how to make some insanely delicious “drunk munchies”.

The Beer

It wouldn’t be an authentic German experience without the beer. Biergartens all around the world boast some of the most extensive and unique brew selections and Der Biergarten is no exception! With a list of over a dozen specialty beers on draft and a unique featured keg of the month program, Der Biergarten can quench your thirst like none other. Grab a 20oz. Weihenstephan, crafted by the oldest commercial brewery in the world, and taste the tradition in every sip.

The Atmosphere

A traditional German Biergarten is outdoors, but Atlanta’s version is so much more. With regularly scheduled live music and rain or shine seating, Biergartens are no longer just a summertime treat. In addition to the outside area, Der Biergarten boasts a stylish dining area and even makes room for a game of shuffleboard! The Biergarten itself is split between inside and outside with several TVs, making Der Biergarten the perfect bar for hanging out with friends, entertaining clients, sharing a Bavarian style dinner with the whole family and even watching European (and American) football.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest

It may only be one month out of the year, but no one does Oktoberfest like a traditional German Biergarten. Atlanta’s growing German population can celebrate in style at Der Biergarten’s month long party. Take a break from the routine bar scene and try something that is exciting, entertaining and European during the fall months. Der Biergarten’s mission is to “bring Munich to you” and recreate all of the food, music, and fun on American soil.
