The Salty-Sweet Bacon that Spanx Founder Sara Blakely Obsesses Over

Plus Her Top Date-Night Restaurants, The Belly Art Project, and Why She Pays It Forward

When Mara Davis and Sara Blakely get in the studio together, it only makes sense that they would talk about underwear and bacon. Not just any bacon. The best, most coveted, saltiest, sweetest bacon in all of Atlanta. And not just any underwear. Sara Blakely’s world-famous, Oprah-approved, body-shaping Spanx.

Once you go bacon, it’s tough to come back to any other topic. We try, though. Sara dishes to Mara about her top date night restaurants, being vulnerable on Instagram, how selling fax machines launched her billion dollar underwear empire, and how she pays it all forward.

Speaking of paying it forward, Sara Blakey’s latest philanthropic endeavor is The Belly Art Project, a photographic collection of pregnant women with their bellies painted as, well, just about anything you can imagine. 100% of the proceeds from this book go to Christy Turlington’s charity Every Mother Counts, which helps make pregnancy and childbirth safer for women around the world.
