7 Underrated Restaurants in Atlanta

In our humble opinion, these Atlanta spots just don’t get the love or crowds that they deserve. Check out these under-the-radar spots for a meal that’ll satisfy your tastebuds today!

1. Tassa Roti

For authentic Carribean cuisine with a Trinidadian flare, Marietta spot Tassa Roti is just the ticket. Owner Ria at Tassa Roti wanted to create a home away from home for islanders living in Atlanta, and she’s definitely achieved it with Tassa Roti! Can’t decide whether curry goat, jerk chicken, or brown stew chicken sounds more appealing? No worries, because they’ve got a buffet style set-up so you don’t have to choose. Just make sure you wrap up your meal in one of their signature rotis, made from brown split peas. Use your hands! Call (770) 977-3163 for current hours.

2. Falafel King

This teeny spot in the heart of Emory Village is often overlooked by the rest of ATL. But, it has some of the BEST falafel in town, and it’s time that more than Emory students knew about it. Parking is tricky, but the $6 mixed sandwich with falafel and shwarma is a standby and also super affordable! Open for pick-up, according to Google Business.

3. Ghion Cultural Hall

Ghion is rarely the first spot to come to people’s minds when they’re thinking of where to get Ethiopian food, but it’s seriously one of the best spots in the city. Even if you’re more of a steak and burger lover, you’re going to be more blown away by the vegetable platter here. The flavors and spices are out of this world. Best part is they really don’t skimp on serving out injira, a spongy Ethiopian bread made out of teff flour. Available on most delivery platforms!

4. Urban Wu

You don’t have to go all the way to Duluth or Buford Highway for phenomenal Asian food, because Urban Wu has some of the best Szechuan right in the heart of Buckhead. The braised fish is a super addicting mix of umami and spice. The Dan Dan noodles are also *solid,* and the chicken lettuce cups are also surprisingly flavorful and addicting. Available on UberEats!

5. BBQ Olive Chicken

Korean Fried Chicken is often imitated, but rarely matched. However, BBQ Olive Chicken is one of those rare spots that really nails it on the head. Our go-to order is the Half & Half combo, that’s a mixture of their fried original chicken and their secret spicy chicken.  Find this spot in Duluth in a pretty unassuming strip mall, but isn’t that where most of the best Asian food is?? Available for delivery and pick-up.

6. Surin of Thailand

Surin of Thailand just doesn’t come up enough in conversations about where to get Thai food in Atlanta, and we don’t get why. Their coconut soup is AMAZING and their Thai BBQ chicken is solid, classic Thai comfort food. The Thai salmon is served in a flavorful curry and the perfect option when you’re looking for something savory. Find this spot in Virginia Highlands! Available for takeout, dine-in, and delivery, according to Google Business.

7. NAM Kitchen

This Sandy Springs spot just doesn’t get the love it deserves, and we’re tired of it. The filet mignon is phenomenal, the banh mi is out of this world, the seabass melts in your mouth, and their Wine Wednesday, with 40% off all wine bottles, is one of the best deals in town. Find them in happening City Springs! Open for patio dining and pick-up.
