ATL’s Best Beef Bourguignon

If you haven’t tried a Beef Bourguignon then, to quote a great movie, you might be what the French call “les incompetents”. But that’s ok, we’re here to help you uncover French cuisine and find the best Beef Bourguignon dishes in Atlanta. Find five of our favorites below.

Petite Violette
This Classic Brookhaven restaurant has an impressive history in the Atlanta area, starting in Toco Hills with their original name Petite Auberge. So you know they know how to make a classic French dish, and there may be no dish more classic than the Beef Bourguignon. Their Boeuf Bourguignon is made with a delicious, braised beef short rib, pommel puree, carrots, pearl onion and mushroom in a brilliant Burgundy Wine Sauce.

Cafe Alsace
This cozy cafe in Decatur gives you the feeling that a French grand-mere is chopping carrots over an oft-used wooden block in the kitchen, slowly sliding them off the board into her mouthwatering red wine sauce. We don’t know if owner Benedicte Cooper is a grandmother, but she’s been serving this delicious, classic dish in her red wine sauce since 1997!

Bistro Niko
Buckhead Life Group has been a staple in the Atlanta restaurant scene for decades, tackling cuisines from around the world. And at Bistro Niko, their approach to French food is top notch. They use beef cheeks slow cooked in burgundy wine for that fall apart protein you’re looking for, along with Parisienne mushrooms, pearl onions, bacon lardons and pomme puree.

Petit Chou
A charming building that sticks out among the many restaurants and condos popping up along Memorial Drive, Petit Chou is a charming French restaurant on Atlanta’s East Side. They make an incredible Beef Bourguignon braised slowly in a house red wine sauce, but their menu is seasonal, so check their website before hading for that beautiful beef.

F&B
Diners in Brookhaven and Buckhead are regulars at this charming French bistro located at the ground floor of the 3630 Peachtree sky-rise. They serve reliable French fare daily, and have a more-than-solid Beef Bourguignon on the menu. They serve it with baby carrots, bacon, mushrooms and red bliss potatoes.
