5 Atlanta Restaurants That Prove Mom Knows Best

Nothing tastes the way mama makes it, and that’s especially true for some of Atlanta’s best chefs. The love of food – or anything for that matter – comes from special childhood moments. And there’s nothing more special than tasting something your mother made you with love. That’s why these 5 Atlanta restaurants all make incredible meals – they’re influenced by taste, smell and sight of the dishes we grew up loving. Watch to hear these restaurants’ stories, and how their menus are all influenced by mama.

Piastra
Marietta Square brings that small town feel to the metro Atlanta area. And every small town should have a delicious, authentic Italian restaurant in their town square. Piastra delivers on all of that and more with fresh dishes made from scratch every day, and warm, friendly service from mother-son team Chef Greg and Mama Betty.

Coalition Food and Beverage
Ryan and Daniel Pernice, co-owners of Coalition Food and Beverage, found their love of restaurants on their own, but their mother loves coming by to visit her sons. With stylish industrial decor, the impressive cocktail menu or mouth watering entrees, you’ll find something to unite the entire table.

Emerald City Bagels
You know a place is good when there’s a line out the door, and since Emerald City Bagels opened, there’s been a line every morning patiently awaiting a delicious bagel or bagel sandwich. We heard the story of mother-daughter owners Deanna and Jackie Halcrow, saw the process for making these holey delights, tasted their mouth-watering, made-on-site seltzers, and got up close and personal with meticulously crafted bagel sandwiches.

Marietta Diner
One of Atlanta’s only 24 hour dining locations that doesn’t have yellow and black painted on the building, owner Gus Tselios has brought the classic Greek diner tradition to metro Atlanta. With a menu that has literally anything you want on it, the Diner comes from Gus’ years working in family restaurants and working in the kitchen with his mother. Now, mama’s cooking keeps the place busy 24/7

BB’s Bagels
When Eddie and Anna Siino decided to open up a bagel place that used the classic, kettle boiling method of the Northeast in Alpharetta, they knew it would take the full family to make it a success. Now, Anna is the matriarch of the BB’s Bagels family, making the most authentic bagels in the area.
