What Are You Eating New Year’s Eve?

Assuming the Mayans were wrong and the world doesn’t end on the 21st, it’s almost time to celebrate the end of 2012. Whether you are looking to celebrate this past year or are looking forward to 2013, one thing is for sure – New Year’s Eve dinner is not to be missed!  On this night, chefs and their restaurants will be putting their best foot forward, providing awesome meals and experiences.  We have chosen a few restaurants that are sure to impress you and have you talking about your last meal of 2012 in 2013!

But first two things to remember:

1. Whatever you do to celebrate the turning of the year, please do it safely: walk, take a cab, or find a designated driver.

2. The people serving you are giving up their new year celebrations to make sure you have a good time. If you don’t tip you’ll have a horrible 2013. That’s just the way it goes.

No. 246 – Decatur

Chef Drew Belline and staff will be featuring a delicious four-course prix fixe menu for $55 a person at No. 246 in Decatur.  There will be both a $25 and $50 wine pairing choice available to compliment your meal, and a complimentary toast at midnight for those wishing to stay to ring in the New Year!

Empire State South – Midtown

Chef Ryan Smith will be providing diners with a four-course prix fixe menu for $65 a person. There will be an optional wine pairing available.  At 11 o’clock ESS continues the party with a live band to bring you into 2013 right. Thirty bucks gets you into the party (regardless of dining) and two glasses of sparkles!

4th and Swift – Old 4th Ward

Jay Swift and company will be dishing out an awesome 5-course prix fixe menu to celebrate the New Year in the Old Fourth Ward.  A $40 wine pairing will be available as well.

Abbatoir – Westside Provisions

In the Westside Provisions District, Abbatoir will be featuring a five-course prix fixe menu for $75 dollars per person.  There will be an optional wine pairing available

Canoe – Vinings

Canoe will be putting out a super special celebratory a la carte menu for New Years Eve.  This is sure to be an amazing option for those that prefer to shy away from set menus, or just feel like getting away from the city.

Il Localino – Inman Park

Dining at Trattoria il Localino feels like eating at your Grandfather’s restaurant – you’re family! And there’s always a party here (see: disco balls and fog machines).  Luckily for us, they are open for New Year’s Eve featuring a $70 prix fixe with an optional $20 wine pairing available.  They will also have a special NYE a la carte menu for those who want.

Local Three – West Paces Ferry

Local Three will be offering a $59.93 per person prix fixe menu.  There will be both wine AND beer pairings available.  Beer pairings?? Oh, yeah.

Woodfire Grill – Cheshire Bridge

Top Chef Las Vegas fan favorite, Kevin Gillespie, waves a fond farewell to the restaurant he’s led for four years with a five-course prix fixe dinner. Anyone wanting to sample Gillespie’s greatest hits tasting menu will have to fork over $115, vegetarians will pay $100. Wine pairings are $12 or $20 per glass, depending on which wine you like. And don’t worry, folks, Chef Kevin will be back in March when he opens The Gunshow in Glenwood Park.

One Eared Stag – Old 4th Ward

One Eared Stag will be celebrating with a special a la carte menu for the last night of 2012.  It is sure to be as tasty as always, and hey, who doesn’t love choices?

The Optimist – West Midtown

Opening this year, The Optimist has been super buzzworthy!  Earning the title of Best New Restaurant by Esquire Magazine, The Optimist sure has a bright future ahead.  But why not end the year that started it all with them?  Chef Adam Evans will offer a four-course prix fixe menu for $65 a person.

P’Cheen – Old 4th Ward/Inman Park

P’Cheen knows how the celebrate the New Year’s right!!!  They will feature an a la carte dinner for for the end of 2012 followed a DJ, balloon drop and midnight toast.  End your celebration in 2013, with a complimentary late night breakfast. Come for part, or all – it is sure to be a blast!

Pura Vida – Poncey-Highland

Pura Vida will offer a $50 per person New Year’s Eve Dinner. This will include choice of three tapas, one dessert and glass of cava sparkling wine per person.  

The Spence – Downtown/Tech Square

The Spence’s menu changes daily.  New Year’s Eve will be no different.  They will feature a unique daily menu that is sure to impress.  If you haven’t tried The Spence yet, this may be a perfect opportunity!
