The Story Behind The Man In The Photo

If you’ve been following us for the past few weeks, you probably now have seen the man in this photo quite a few times. So let’s take a second to tell his story, to tell you about a man named Reggie.⁣

Reggie has worked as an actor, a voiceover artist, a creative, a performer. He’s worked at HomeGrown, at Revolution Donuts, and even owned some restaurants himself (Yin Yang Cafe and Club Kaya in the 90s). He even lived in Europe, for a time, but eventually found himself returning back to Atlanta and working in the restaurant industry.

One day, Reggie was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of cancer that accumulates in the bone marrow and infects the blood. It’s a rare disease, with mysterious symptoms, and an often fatal diagnosis.⁣

Things were bleak, but his friends in the restaurant industry held a fundraiser for him. And Giving Kitchen paid for some of his bills, to bridge that gap, to let him focus on his health and recovery.⁣

Eventually, Reggie received a stem cell transplant. And while his recovery wasn’t easy, and he still has complications today, it was thanks to the restaurant community and Giving Kitchen that he could focus on getting better. ⁣⁣

Giving Kitchen has been there for Atlanta and Georgia food service industry workers since its inception and that’s why we’re fundraising for them. That’s why we’re asking you to give, anything you can, today.

Our Giving Kitchen fundraiser ends tonight at 11:59pm ET. And for today only, our friends at Gas South will be matching donations, dollar-per-dollar, up to $2,500. Please make a gift today so we can continue to support our Atlanta friends in need.
