The Ultimate Bloody Mary

Atlanta Eats | Mom Thyme

If part of your Mother’s Day plans this year involve toasting the special women in your life, I’ve got just the Bloody Mary recipe that’ll get the party started while making Mom feel super special too! I’ve been on a quest lately to find THE PERFECT Bloody Mary recipe, and, I’m glad to say, my search is finally over after finding the recipe below. So, what makes this Ultimate Bloody Mary recipe so great and why should you make it this Mother’s Day?

It’s As Easy As It Is Delicious!Just throw the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, shake for a few seconds, and, voilà, you’ve got a fantastic Bloody Mary! No fancy equipment needed, no unheard of ingredients, this recipe is simple, straight forward, and, most importantly, one of the best Bloody Marys I’ve ever tasted!

It’s Perfect For One And Great For A Party – Though the recipe below is for one Bloody Mary, you can easily multiply the ingredients if you’re hosting a crowd.  If serving a Bloody Mary bar as part of a brunch (always a great idea!), be sure to offer your guests celery stalks and lemon wedges, as well as other fun options such as stuffed olives, flavored vodkas, pickled okra or green beans, cooked shrimp, and, a variety of spices and hot sauces. It’s your Bloody Mary bar, own it and make it as fancy or creative as you’d like!

It’s Also The Ultimate Mocktail (Just Leave Out The Vodka!) – I’m a mom who LOVES a fun “brunchy drink” every so often (think mimosas, Bloody Mary’s, bellinis, etc.), BUT, I’ve had to refrain over the past few months because I’m currently pregnant with our second child (another little boy due in October!). So, when hosting friends or family for brunch lately, I just whip up a Virgin Bloody Mary using this recipe (all the ingredients, minus the vodka) and, I promise y’all, it’s so delicious I don’t even miss the alcohol (I’m 100% serious)! By turning this into a Virgin Bloody Mary, you’ve got a fantastic mocktail that’s low in calories AND won’t make you feel deprived as everyone else is imbibing around you!

So, now that we’ve got this Ultimate Bloody Mary recipe, let’s raise our glasses this Mother’s Day and celebrate all the hardworking and amazing mothers that we know and love. Cheers to you, Mom! Enjoy!

The Ultimate Bloody Mary

3 ounces vodka

6 ounces Campbell’s tomato juice

5 shakes of Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons prepared horseradish

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 teaspoon celery salt

½ teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

10-15 shakes of hot sauce (to taste)

Combine ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake it thoroughly, making sure that you get everything evenly distributed, particularly the horseradish. Strain it into a pint glass filled with fresh ice. Serve with a celery stalk and any other desired garnishes.

**If making a large pitcher of Bloody Marys, throw all ingredients except the celery salt and black pepper in a blender and blend until desired consistency. Stir in celery salt and black pepper before serving.
