There’s plenty of spots to eat and drink near Emory University if you’re in the area, whether you’re a student looking for a quick bite to eat or a parent in town visiting the A. Here’s a list, in no particular order, of some of the best restaurants to drink and dine when you’re near campus.

A restaurant that holds a special place in the hearts of most Emory students is Falafel King, a family-owned spot right off campus in Emory Village. All you need on a cold, gloomy afternoon between classes is a bowl of FK’s special ramen! It’s spicy and so full of flavor you won’t be able to ramen calm! Their dumplings,  falafel wraps, and shawarma rolls are also favorites amongst students. Don’t forget to get their famous FK sauce on the side- it’s so good students literally take bottles of this sauce home!

Another pick from Emory Village, the Italian spot Double Zero has seen many college first dates! Definitely fancier than the other places at Emory Village, students come here when they want to splurge a little or just need an aesthetic, modern getaway from campus dining. Double Zero offers fresh handmade pasta, a variety of neapolitan pizzas, and some delicious appetizers. If you’re over 21, the place also has a pretty stocked bar with some great bottles of wine!

Located at Emory Point, this next restaurant is not just a popular brunch spot for Emory students, but also attracts diners from all over Atlanta! TGM is the perfect deli with delicious food. You can start your day here with fresh hot chocolate or end it with some classic New York cheesecake. If we were to choose the perfect meal at this spot, it would definitely be breakfast! They have some of the best omelettes and their pecan crusted french toast is to die for! Another favorite are the poached eggs and grits with modeiro sauce and rye toast sticks. And don’t forget about their badass double stack cheeseburger! If you’re a bread person, The General Muir also has its own bakery right next door where you can grab some fresh bread and soup.

Who doesn’t love some good Thai food? Thaicoon is a casual spot with great food! The menu offers some great Thai and Japanese options. Start your meal with a fresh thai soup and Bangkok fries and you will not be disappointed. Some favorites are the pad thai, drunken noodles, and the panang curry. Diners really enjoy Thaicoon’s sushi too and they have an insane 15-piece sashimi dinner for $21.95! Thaicoon is also right next to a Kroger so you can easily grab your groceries for the week afterwards!

5. Kaldi’s Coffee

This next spot is on Emory’s campus. It has two locations- one by the train tracks (which is so cool), and the other in the student center. Their smoothies are super refreshing, and our personal favorite is the strawberry banana. One of the best things about Kaldi’s is that it’s open till midnight. Students make good use of this, whether it’s post frat party snacks or coffee to pull off all nighters before exams, Kaldi’s has got everyone covered! Some of the favorites on the menu are their flatbreads and avocado toast.

This next spot is absolutely tea-riffic! Whether you’re a boba fan or not, this is a spot you must try. The cutest interiors, a super long menu, and delicious snacks- that’s Tea Leaf Creamery! They have a wide variety of teas, ranging from matcha to fruit and smoothie. Their signature taiyaki filled with nutella or an ice cream of your choice will definitely make your day. If you’re not in the mood for taiyaki, you can munch on some other snacks with your boba. We would recommend getting the popcorn chicken and butterfly shrimp.

7. The Po Boy Shop

1369 Clairmont Rd, Decatur, GA 30033

Known for its sandwiches in the day and hurricanes at night, Po Boy is one of the coolest places ever! This spot comes in two parts. Right on Clairmont road is the Po Boys sandwich shop that has some great food ranging from subs to cajun snacks. If you take a right from the sandwich place and go down the stairs, you’ll get the shock of your lives. Po Boys has an underground bar!! A huge space, this is your typical american bar with pool tables, skeeball, and dartboards. The must haves at this underground bar are $4 apple pie shots which are dangerously delicious. If you missed mardi, this is your spot to get the hurricane experience. These drinks are super strong but yum and come in a large cup, giving you your perfect pregame spot! Po Boy also has a food menu with a lot of options and the fried gator chunks are awesome!

8. BoruBoru Sushi

1568 Avenue Pl D-160, Atlanta, GA 30329

We’ve all had poke and we’ve all had sushi, but have you ever had a sushi burrito?! It’s not just a gimmick, but an actually kinda genius and convenient way to indulge in some raw fish, sushi rice, and all your favorite toppings when you’re on the go. The ingredients all taste fresh, and the flavor combos are top notch!
