Visit Macon | Atlanta Eats on the Road

With a rich history, authentic Southern charm, incredible architecture and an impressive musical heritage, Macon is “Where Soul Lives” and it’s a quick drive away from Atlanta. Home to Otis Redding, Little Richard and the Allman Brothers Band, Macon’s reputation isn’t just based on music – it also has an amazing restaurant scene! From the Ocmulgee Brewpub, to the Rookery to Dovetail – there’s great dining options in one of the South’s great cities.

Macon has won competitions for its drinking water in the recent past, so it’s no surprise that its beer is just as delicious. At Ocmulgee Brewpub, they brew it in-house – just ask Doug the Brewmaster, who believes that “Everybody deserves good beer.” Pair Doug’s delightful libations with some of the best burgers in town + hand cut fries with a truffle aioli, and you’ll see why Ocmulgee is one of Macon’s best.

Speaking of hamburgers, the Rookery has been makin’ some of Macon’s best burgers since 1976. Always a good option if you’re heading down for the Cherry Blossom Festival, the Just Tap’d Craft Beer Festival or any of the many festivals you can find on their website. And if you’re looking for something a little more highbrow for dinner, you can’t go wrong with the locally sourced produce, herbs, cheeses and proteins as Dovetail, a refined Southern restaurant. Make your way to Macon soon!
