1. Food Terminal
Multiple Locations
We have to start with one of our favorites in Atlanta, Food Terminal. Buford Highway has always been home to excellent restaurants from around the globe, but Food Terminal is, in many ways, the next generation of these restaurants. With a welcoming decor, accessible approach to Malaysian food and great service, Food Terminal fits in Buford Highway or lower Manhattan – in Atlanta, owner Jane Ewe and her family have expanded to multiple locations, including West Midtown and Sandy Springs!
2. Malaya
857 Collier Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
A favorite for folks living and working near Howell Mill, Malaya makes great Malaysian food. They have excellent currys and soups, which always hit the spot during the colder months of the year, and their appetizers are a great take out option for your next party – they have everything from roti to edamame to steamed pork dumplings and more.
3. Mamak
5150 Buford Highway, NE, Doraville, GA 30340
Mamak deserves better than to be called a hole in the wall, but from the outside you might think it merits the title. Step inside though, and you’ll find a clean, welcoming atmosphere with a mouthwatering menu of Malaysian favorites. They’ve got great roti, fresh tossed noodles, and mouthwatering slow cooked proteins.
4. Penang Malaysian Cuisine
2491 George Busbee Pkwy NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144
With thriving Asian communities all over Atlanta’s perimeter, it’s no surprise we’d find an excellent Malaysian restaurant OTP. Penang Malaysian Cuisine in Kennesaw delivers with a local, family restaurant approach to world class flavors. With an extensive menu, they make fantastic Malaysian flavored dishes like their Malaysian pork chop, chicken rending, samba shrimp and more. They also feature Thai dishes and other Asian oriented cuisine.
5. Top Spice
Multiple Locations
This burgeoning chain with locations in Toco Hills and Akers Mill is striving for a more fast casual approach to Malaysian cuisine, featuring quick service and a menu with a not-overwhelming amount of options. The throw in some Thai options too for a more pan Asian approach, but they have a whole section of their menu dedicated to Malaysian Chefspecials, including Sambal Dang, Honey Butter shrimp, Beef and Chicken Rending, and much more.
