The Most Mouthwatering Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches Around Atlanta

Buttery biscuits, crispy fried chicken, and bomb BBQ is a given in a Southern metropolis like Atlanta, but what about mouthwatering regional delicacies like cheesesteaks from up north? The answer is yeah, we can do those, too! Check out these Atlanta restaurants that are cooking up some mouthwatering philly cheesesteaks. This list is in alphabetical order.

1. Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks

57 Forsyth St NW Suite 63, Atlanta, GA 30303

Few places are doing it up big like Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks. Philadelphia native Derrick Hayes started this business out of a desire to bring the real deal to ATL, and his sandwiches have inspired a massive cult following. Dig into his eggrolls for a bite-sized yet oh-so-savory treat. Be aware the line can get long, but it’s worth it! They also have a food truck that roams around town, and a Dunwoody location.

Fred’s is an absolute legend in Atlanta for outstanding and meat filled sandwiches, absurdly delicious fries, and more. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich stands out in particular for the super tasty American cheese and ribeye meat. If you want a bit of a twist on a classic, get the umami filled shroom shire cheesesteak or gochujang sauce Korean cheesesteak!

3. GAS Food Truck

This little food truck serves up 420 inspired, munchie friendly fare and their New York chopped cheese sandwiches are the truth! The bread comes perfectly toasted, and the sidewinder fries they serve with them are killer as well. Follow their Instagram to see where they’ll be next!

The unsung hero of a perfect cheesesteak is the bread. Knuckies has some of the very best hoagie rolls in the game, adapted from pizza dough, with a cloudlike softness that perfectly complements the richness of the meat and cheese. Crank it up a notch with sauteed onions and green peppers, and why not “bump it” another notch with fresh chimichurri?

5. The Mad Italian

2089 Savoy Dr Chamblee, GA 30341

We live in an age of $18 cocktails and $20 burgers, so it’s refreshing to have old standbys like the Mad Italian where you can get phenomenal food at a price that won’t break the bank. Dig into their 10″ philly cheesesteak for under $15. It’s just a work of art.

6. The Philly Steak Spot

Now, The Philly Steak Spot is in Hiram so it’s at least 20 miles west of ATL, however if you have the afternoon free, we recommend making the drive over. The meat on their sandwiches is cooked to perfection and the food comes out quick. The best part is that they don’t skimp on the meat whatsoever. The Knockout Sandwich with beef, chicken, bacon and fried onions and peppers is a fan favorite along with the beef egg rolls, although you can never go wrong with a classic Philly.

7. Manuel’s Tavern

602 North Highland Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30307

This historic spot has been kickin’ it since the ’50s and has long served as a comfy neighborhood hangout for well-heeled politicians and blue collar folks alike. They kill it with most items on their menu, from their country fried steak to their slow-cooked ribs in a housemade BBQ sauce. They also have a delicious “steak sandwich” as a daily special that consists of 8 oz of sirloin on a liberally buttered and toasted hoagie roll with sauteed peppers and onions and perfectly melty cheese. It’s high quality stuff!

Philly G is another one of our favorite spots around town to stop for a delicious, flavorful cheesesteak. Philly G Steak’s has a few locations around Atlanta and they’re serving up steak, chicken, veggie and salmon cheesesteaks. You can also get a water ice here, another beloved Philadelphia delicacy.

777 Oak St SW, Atlanta, GA 30310

This much cherished spot has been open for over 20 years, and you don’t get to that point without serving a damn good sandwich. Choose their classic beef cheesesteak, or chicken for a lighter option, or go for the mushroom cheesesteak for an extra savory flavor.

This much beloved spot has been slinging cheesesteaks since 1975. It’s one of the few places in Atlanta where you can still get a meal for under $10, and for a lot of Atlanta natives, it just doesn’t get much better than this. They’re also often open late on Friday and Saturday nights in case you’ve got the midnight munchies
