1. Bismillah Cafe’s Chicken Biryani

4022 Buford Hwy NE
Atlanta, GA 30345

Look up hole-in-the-wall in the dictionary, and you’ll find Bismillah Cafe. This Chamblee restaurant’s actual storefront has seen better days, but the all-halal food hits just as good as ever, and the prices are fantastic for your budget. Most items on the menu will run you under 10 bucks, from their butter chicken to their shawarma, but we’re especially big fans of their biryanis

2. The Chastain‘s Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit

4320 Powers Ferry Rd NW
Atlanta, GA 30342

The Chastain is more of a three dollar-sign type of place, but there’s one great menu item that’s easy on the budget and arguably, one of the best in Atlanta: their bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. Behold the waterfall of melty cheese, the soft eggs, the buttery and crumbly biscuit, and thick slab of bacon that make this biscuit positively decadent. Their patio is one of the best in town, too, with a lovely, warm fire pit to sit beside on fall nights.

3. Chong Qing Hot Pot’s Chong Qing Spicy Chicken

5385 New Peachtree Rd
Chamblee, GA 30341

This family owned and operated little market in Chamblee‘s Chinatown mall has been serving up foods BIG on flavor and portions and low on prices for years. They have a plethora of menu items for under $10 or close to it, but it’s their hot pots and Szechuan menu items you don’t want to miss. Try their spicy chicken for a bit of spicy, fried goodness and let that Szechuan peppercorn clear your sinuses!

4. Dat Fire Jerk Chicken‘s Jerk Chicken Plates

226 Northside Dr SW
Atlanta, GA 30313

Right outside Mercedes Benz Stadium in a small, colorful shack is a helluva meal. The homemade jerk sauce at this Caribbean spot is so good you’ll want to drizzle straight into your mouth. Pair it with some perfectly sweet plantains. Oxtail will run you more, but you can get a jerk chicken meal for under 10 bucks. Despite the restaurant name, their jerk chicken usually has a bit less spice than other spots, so if you’re looking for more kick, try out Jamrock or Chef Rob’s.

5. Dan Moo Ji’s Omurice

3230 Steve Reynolds Blvd #107
Duluth, GA 30096

There’s probably not a spot with greater value for great Korean food in all of Greater Metro Atlanta than at casual eatery Dan Moo Ji in Duluth. There’s plenty of kimbob, the Korean version of sushi for under 7 bucks. Or you can tuck into their savory omelette fried rice dishes and donkatsu (deep fried pork cutlets). Most of their omurice dishes run under $10, though be warned this place can get pretty packed!

6. El Progreso’s Street Tacos

1460 Blvd SE
Atlanta, GA 30315

There’s a cult following for the tacos at this little supermarket lovingly referred to as as “Prison Tacos” as they’re located right next to a jail. For just a few bucks, you can enjoy the al pastor, carne asada, and barbacoa tacos that your heart desires. Pro tip: if this place is a bit out of the way for you, try looking around your neighborhood for similar types of taquerias and carnicerias. It’s these supermarkets, and not at restaurants, that are the best places for delicious and affordable Mexican street tacos

7. Falafel King’s Gyro

1405 Oxford Rd NE
Atlanta, GA 30307

This teeny spot in the heart of Emory Village is often overlooked by the rest of ATL. But, it has some of the BEST falafel in town, and it’s time that more than Emory students knew about it. Parking is tricky, but the $6 mixed sandwich with falafel and shawarma is a standby and also super affordable

8. Hot Betty’s Breakfast Bar‘s French Toast

2316 Main St C
Tucker, GA 30084

This place is the truth! Cute as a button, reasonably priced, and outstandingly delicious, this kickin’ little brunch spot in Tucker is certainly worth the trip OTP. They have a full bar and outdoor seating, as well as some of the best fried chicken and waffles we’ve ever had. For a meal under $10, get the French toast!

9. J. Christopher’s Blueberry Crunch Cakes

Multiple Locations

Long before the explosion of Atlanta restaurants popping up everywhere,  we had humble J. Christopher’s, a staple in the city for all American breakfast staples in a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere. Their skillets are always delicious, but it’s their blueberry crunch cakes that come in at below 10 bucks and pretty darn delicious. With a smattering of fresh blueberries and the crunch of granola to add some texture to your basic pancakes, you’ll leave pleased with both your stomach and wallet filled.
