These Are Atlanta’s Best Restaurants, According to ChatGPT
The future is here! ChatGPT and other AI programs like Bard are here to upend the way we do everything from creating programming code to writing emails to deciding where to eat. So, naturally we asked ChatGPT what are the best restaurants in Atlanta and the results were… mixed? See their take and our take below!
1. Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q
What Chat GPT says: For a BBQ recommendation, ChatGPT pointed us to a tried and true: “Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q is a local favorite. Their slow-smoked meats and delicious sides are sure to satisfy any BBQ craving.”
What we think: Without a doubt, Fox Bros is one of the most decorated and beloved ‘cue spots in the metro area, but if you’d like something a little underrated, we recommend also hitting up Pit Boss BBQ for their smoked wings or Heirloom Market BBQ for their spicy Korean pulled pork.
2. Gunshow
What ChatGPT says: “Led by James Beard Award-winning chef Kevin Gillespie, Gunshow offers a unique dining experience with a rotating menu presented by the chefs themselves.”
What we think: Gunshow is without a doubt one of Atlanta’s most unique offerings. We’ll just give you a bit of further advice and say you can’t leave Gunshow with having Chef Gillespie’s menu staple, the Old Fashioned Banana Pudding. It will truly make a pudding convert out of you if you think banana pudding is not your thing, and we’re forever thinking about it!

3. King + Duke
What ChatGPT says: King & Duke was recommended by ChatGPT for a “rustic yet refined dining experience… [focusing on] wood-fired meats and seasonal vegetables.”
What we think: While we have been a fan of King & Duke in the past, it’s no longer open! We’ll forever miss those popovers. Looking for delicious similar spots? Check out Kevin Rathbun Steak or Marcel instead.
4. The Optimist
What Chat GPT says: “A seafood-focused restaurant offering a vibrant atmosphere and a menu featuring coastal-inspired dishes.”
What we think: Chef Ford Fry’s The Optimist is wonderful, but we may like his other seafood restaurant, Beetlecat, even more! The lobster roll at Beetlecat is consistently one of the city’s best, and they have a very underrated donut brunch that’s unexpected yet bonkers good.

5. Staplehouse
What Chat GPT says: Another miss by ChatGPT, it lists Staplehouse as a “cozy and intimate restaurant serves modern American cuisine and focuses on locally sourced ingredients. It’s a favorite among food enthusiasts.”
What we think: Staplehouse has converted over from being a full-service restaurant to more a market style spot with grab-and-go meals. While also tasty, if you’re looking for the more upscale, farm-to-table experience that Staplehouse used to do, we recommend you check out the Alden or Bacchanalia.
